Sunday 28th January 2018 saw St. Finian’s Park host it’s first adult competitive fixture as St. Mary’s made the long journey to Clonard, and played their part in what was another historic day for the club.
Despite losing to a late penalty as Clonard fielded with no less that 7 missing starters from last years championship semi-final, it didn’t detract from the occasion as the fixture signified the achievement of many years of hard work in finally having a modern playing facility as the clubs home.
Later that day the 4th Annual Hunt and Auction took place in the village which was another huge success, raising over €4,500 for the club. Many thanks to all the riders and horses who took part, to all those who donated auction items, bought raffle tickets, and of course everyone who bid for and purchased the auction items. Thanks also to our resident ‘auctioneer’ Kevin Donegan.
There will be may more great days like this one, except hopefully next time the result on the pitch will go our way! Onwards and upwards as they say....
